Pricing
Understand the cost of hearing healthcare.
Unbundled Pricing:
Clear, Transparent Hearing Healthcare
When you visit a medical provider, you typically pay for the time you spend with your doctor(s) and clinical staff. Depending on your appointment, there may also be separate charges for diagnostic tests, procedures, or prescriptions. Some of these costs may be covered by insurance, while others are paid out of pocket.
Hearing healthcare works in much the same way.
Why Audiology Pricing is Changing
Historically, hearing healthcare clinics often use bundled pricing, meaning the cost of hearing aids and professional services were combined into one all-inclusive fee. While this approach was common in the past, it does not always reflect how hearing healthcare is delivered—or how patients actually use services.
Hearing healthcare clinics are required to bill within the hearing aid benefit according to applicable laws and insurance guidelines. This means hearing devices and professional services must be clearly itemized rather than combined into a single price.
Unbundled pricing also offers meaningful financial benefits for patients:
Undled vs. Unbundled Billing Structures
Bundled Billing:
- Hearing aids and services combined into one price
- Average total cost ranges from $5,000–$10,000
- Patients may be billed remaining balances after insurance pays, which is often not permitted
Unbundled Billing:
- Hearing aids and services are priced separately so you know exactly what you are paying for
- Patients only pay for services that are used
- Clear and concise insurance billing that is in line with insurance guidelines
- Lower upfront costs for patients
