Our Services

Hearing Tests

We provide hearing tests in Portland for patients five years and older at both of our office locations. A hearing test (audiogram) is the first step in determining if you have hearing loss and what degree of loss you have. Our advanced testing procedures accurately identify hearing loss, so we can help you find a solution. During your hearing exam, we will perform a few different types of hearing tests, including:

• Air Conduction Testing
• Bone Conduction Testing
• Speech Testing
• Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions (DPOAE) Testing
• Tympanometry or Acoustic Immittance Testing

Cerumen Removal

Cerumen (earwax) is a natural part of having healthy ears. Although earwax is important for good ear health, sometimes it can become impacted. Impacted earwax can cause discomfort, clogged ears, and even muffled hearing. You should never try to remove earwax with a cotton swab as these can push the earwax further into the ear canal. At our audiology center, we offer cerumen removal services to keep your ears clean and hearing their best. We can safely and effectively remove earwax in office.

Hearing Aid Evaluation

Our hearing specialists will take the results of your hearing test (audiogram) and have a discussion with you to determine what the best management option is. Determining which hearing aid will best help you is based off a few factors: degree of hearing loss, lifestyle, and budget.

Hearing Aid Programming & Fitting

After you’ve chosen which hearing aids best match your needs and lifestyle, we will expertly fit and program them for you. Hearing aids should sit comfortably and securely in or around your ear. We will fit the hearing aids to match your unique ear shape, then we will program them according to your hearing prescription. We encourage all our patients to come in after their initial fitting appointment for a follow-up to ensure your devices are providing you with the right amount of amplification.

Hearing Aid Repair

Hearing aids are incredibly durable, with the ability to withstand moisture and every day elements. However, it’s not uncommon for an issue to arise and for your hearing aids to need repairs. At Pacific Audiology Clinic, our hearing specialists are experts in hearing technology, and can repair any brand, make, or model of hearing aid.

In addition to having your hearing aids repaired if something isn’t working right, we recommend bringing your devices in every six months for a professional cleaning. Taking care of your hearing aids and having them regularly checked will ensure they last you for many years.

Cochlear Implant Mapping

Cochlear implants need regular check-ups and reprogramming to continue working effectively. We can program your cochlear implants to meet your specific hearing needs. Regularly reprogramming your cochlear implants will ensure you are hearing and understanding speech properly.

Tinnitus Treatment

Tinnitus affects roughly 50 million people in the U.S. Commonly known as “ringing in the ears,” tinnitus is the perception of sound when none is present. Everyone experiences tinnitus differently, and for some the symptoms may be brief while others hear the phantom sounds constantly. If tinnitus is disrupting your quality of life, contact us for a hearing exam and to learn more about how you can help manage your tinnitus. We can evaluate your hearing and perform a tinnitus test.

There are a few management options available that can help alleviate the symptoms of tinnitus. One of the most common being hearing aids. We offer tinnitus masking hearing aids that can play soothing sounds in your ears to distract your brain from tinnitus. While hearing aids won’t stop ringing in the ears completely, they can help.

Custom Hearing Protection

Loud noise exposure is one of the most common causes of hearing loss in people of all ages. It’s important to protect your hearing anytime you are exposed to sounds over 85 decibels (dB), which is the average sound level of city traffic. At our hearing clinic we can create custom earmolds, earplugs, and in-ear monitors. Whether you are looking for hunting earplugs, custom earplugs for swimming, or musician earbuds, we can help you.
